Leather Ink and Dye Blocker

Overview

Leather Ink & Dye Blocker is a specialized penetrating product used during leather restoration to isolate deep contamination beneath a new finish.

It creates a barrier that helps prevent ink, denim dye, grease, oil, adhesive residue and other persistent stains from migrating through newly applied primer, colourant and top coat layers.

How to Use

Surface preparation

1. Completely remove the old paint or protective finish from the affected area.
2. Thoroughly degrease the leather using Leather Liquid Degreaser or Leather Degreaser.
3. Allow the surface to dry completely.

Compatibility test

1. Test on a small, inconspicuous area or a donor sample.
2. Confirm that there is no adverse reaction and that the stain-blocking effect is sufficient.

Application

1. Apply a thin, even layer to all exposed and affected areas.
2. Use an applicator, brush or spray gun.
3. Dry the layer using a hair dryer or controlled heat gun. Heat activates and seals the barrier properties.
4. Apply a second thin layer with a clean applicator if required.
5. Allow the blocker to dry completely.

Continue the restoration

1. Apply Leather Primer.
2. Apply the required leather colourant.
3. Protect the repair with the appropriate Leather Top Coat.

• Work in a well-ventilated area or use appropriate extraction.
• Wear suitable gloves and respiratory protection.
• Clean spray equipment and tools immediately with Leather Solvent Cleaner.
